Winamp

Some WWR listeners wish to remain anonymous and refuse to divulge which player they use.

Winamp is a long established and popular music player available for free download.

Justin Frankel originally created Winamp but later sold it to AOL. For that reason, it has lost some of its popularity as AOL carefully begins incorporating more self-promoting commercialism into the player. Experienced web geeks squirm at the thought of using any software owned or programmed by non-techie oriented AOL.

The standard Winamp player is not able to take advantage of the higher audio quality MP3Pro enhanced stream used by WWR. It can still play the stream but it does not sound nearly as crisp and clear as when using an MP3Pro enabled player. Users can download and install a free Winamp plugin in order to hear the higher quality MP3Pro audio. An alternative player which continues to grow in popularity and has MP3Pro built in is jetAudio.

Freaky.

Visualizations

Don't overlook the huge selection of free Winamp Visualizations. These are add-ons that display stunning visual effects synched to the music. It's like you're back in the '60s -- but with better technology.
