You want to produce an event for Whole Wheat Radio? That makes you a Wheat Producer!

Who

Anybody who wants to put an event on at the Wheat Palace. Kids. Adults. Dogs. It really doesn't matter. If you have an idea and the energy to see it through, you are who!

When

Refer to our Calendar and see if the date you'd like to have an event is open. Generally we like a 1 or 2 day window on either side of major events. (An example major event is generally a house concert for a nationally touring musician. Another example would be something that brings in 50+ people. It takes a day or two to setup and recover.)

What

Image:Wwrlogorh038.jpg Everything. :-) That's a tongue-in-cheek way of saying as a Wheat Producer you are 100% responsible for all publicity & promotion, setup, hospitality, and clean up. Jim will generally help with any audio / lighting needs. He's also pretty good-natured about helping setup and clean up too ... but, well, this clause is here because sometimes he can't or doesn't want to be significantly involved in an event. Also, he feels it's important for other people to volunteer and put on their own events at the Wheat Palace so word spreads that it's available for a variety of projects even if those projects don't translate especially well to the mission of Whole Wheat Radio.

Depending on the type of event you are producing, one of the largest, most difficult and time-consuming tasks is promotion. Refer to the Gigging in Alaska page for tips and hints about how we promote our own musical events. If you are producing an event, please don't expect Jim to do any of the promotion! You're on your own here. Although I want your event to be well attended, I simply cannot spend hours creating, laying out, printing and distributing posters, notices to media, webpages, email, playbills and internet promotional materials for every event, particularly if it isn't one I'm personally passionate about. Thank you for understanding.

Generally you will know best what is needed to get people to your event. It's a good idea to enlist the help of volunteers to participate throughout the event.
