Peterdale (talk)

Peterdale...What a beautiful place you have - it looks like heaven to me. Those crayfish are crazy big.... is that standard for your part of the world? Jenny (talk/contribs) 10:09, December 7, 2008 (AKST)

Godwits have arrived! Image:Yes.gif 08 September 2008) Good news for us as the godwits have arrived safely after their 11,000 km flight from the Yukon Delta, with the first if them seen yesterday. They fly at an average 80km (50mph) and range between close to sea level and as high as 4,000 metres (14,000feet) They will be very thin just now, having used up all their energy in the flight. They gorge to such an extent in the Yukon Delta that they lose all kidney and liver functions. They just fuel up until they can barely get off the ground and away they go. they usually pass just West of Hawaii on the way.

Hi Pete! I was just reading in the New Zealand Herald about the price of petrol. $2.16 a litre for regular unleaded? Yikes! People around here are complaining and it's at $1.26.....later...Countrydave.

Good to see ya. Peppers are goin crazy. We didn't get any rain for a month then we got 5 inches of rain last night.. Image:Stupid.gif Really good to see ya! Image:Peace.gif blessu

Thank for the comments Pete, I am still listening and will occasionally log in. But life's too short, as they say, especially at my age, (smile). Thanks again and stay in touch.

Thanks for being here — I understand but please never feel UNwelcome Pete. I so appreciated "Our Tunes" I have never taken the time to learn how to make those shows. It'd probably take ten minutes with you to teach me someday. I'd gladly exchange our cultures at the drop of a pepper blossom. Frosty for you at the time. Hi - quick note - thanks for uploading the image Image:Whole Wheat House Concert style.jpg --- but remember that image will be used for all songs that have the Whole Wheat House Concert sticker on them - so a picture of just Rare Form that was not in a WWR house concert setting didn't really work. My photo isn't all that great either, but it gives a more generic image of "a house concert going on at WWR" --- which is what the sticker is all about. :-) --- Thanks for helping out though! Back atcha

Mertissima! This is great news about the success of the acupuncture. Gives me great pleasure to think of you walking around. Must have improved the quality of your life no end. Best regards Peterdale (talk/Contributions)July 15 NZT

Thank you, Peter, and so nice to hear from you! To clarify, I haven't ever stopped walking; it's just that in the last few days it's become a lot easier. I'm thinking that because I have just a limp, and the right leg and foot aren't dragging, the damage done isn't permanent, i.e., the missing myelin sheath around the nerves is regenerating? Anyway, I have another appointment on Wednesday and we'll see what happens after that. I guess the moral(s) to the story is/are: don't believe everything a doctor tells you, and accept your health issues as a lesson, but never give up. — (Mertissima) Mert (talk/contribs) 13:25, July 14, 2008 (AKDT)

Peter, I smiled yesterday every time your Wheatgram played. — Mert (talk/contribs) 08:47, July 20, 2008 (AKDT)

Your trip to the Chatham Islands

Peter, I just read about the Chathams in Wikipedia—fascinating. And now I'm curious as to where exactly you'll be going, and what you'll be doing, if that's not too nosey. (Travel is a little hard for me, and not affordable now anyway, so, yes, I'm an armchair traveler.) Thanks. — Mert (talk/contribs) 15:52, July 24, 2008 (AKDT)

Sourcing lyrics from google for WWR Songs.

  • Hi Jim, I like to put lyrics to songs on WWR. Trouble is I often have more success at tracking the lyrics down if I do not use the click on the Songs page. (This tranposes a fairly long code to the google search on my computer that includes Amazon) The length of the information seems to take me to suggestions that seldom provide me with a reference to the lyrics. On the other hand if'n I just type up the name of the song in the google space and add 'lyrics' then I get a better response. Question is, am I doing something wrong in using the 'click thru? One thought I have had is that maybe you are getting us to seek the words by that particular singer, even though the song may have been written by someone else.

Cheers and thanks for being the Wheat meister. Peterdale (talk/contribs) 15:04 October 21, 2008 (AKDT)

Nothing special in that code except to get rid of most of the sites that don't actually have lyrics but are only click-throughs for ads. You're not doing anything wrong as long as you're using whatever works for you best. I seem to get a fairly high percentage of usable lyrics on the current search filter - if I remove it, I just get mostly garbage. I've found the absolute best way for lyrics is on the artist site directly though if they publish them. Jim (talk/contribs) 15:15, October 21, 2008 (AKDT)
