Crystal Ball Is Busted
When I checked out your page, this is what I saw:

Nope...the user variables, when they appear on a User: page fill in the info for the owner of the page, not who's surfing it. When you tested in the chat it worked, but not on a User: page. Whenever I see a $user variable on a User: page I know I have to spit out info about the person who owns the page. You'll have to copy it onto a non-User: page (like the now legally binding privacy policy page. Sorry about that.

Serious Problem With Your Blog
Dear Toad,
I very much enjoy your Cheap Imitation Of A Blog. I visit it several times each day, and I've told all of my friends about it. Today, I was trying to re-live some old memories, and I clicked on the "Trolling For Dollars" link found in your handy Previous Top Stories sub-section. Imagine my surprise when I got an error page! Surely I'm doing something wrong. Do I need to re-install AOL? Or should I get a new computer? HELP!!!!!!!

- Thanks for pointing that out to me, Myrtle. You just proved that you're not all looks. I archived the stories at User:Toad/Archive. You can find the Trolling For Dollars story there, at least for a little while. Anon (wwr_username_link) will return the current user's name (or nickname) linked to their page. I think I saw some places where that's what you're trying to do but it always shows "J-Walk" on my screen rather than "Jimbob". Anyway, hope that helps. BTW, if there are any system variables you really want, don't hesitate to ask on [Feature_request]. I haven't got a priority list so just sort of have been adding sporadically. Linking to templates and passing parameters?
I think you're the expert on templates and passing parameters to them. I want to [[LINK]] directly to a template and pass parameters to the template in the link. Apparently, I can't do that. So I had to set up a stupid page Chat_History that points to a bunch of standalone pages, and each of those standalones calls the actual template. It sucks - almost may as well hardcode each of the standalone pages except that it's nice to change the format of the template and have each of the standalones reflect that change. Have you figured out a better way to accomplish what I want to do? They really screwed up not letting parameters be passed on a LINK to a template. Jimbob 20:28, May 1, 2006 (AKDT)
If you're bored - the artist / audmag templates are now visually challenged
I know you're busy and please don't feel pressure to do this, but I added "Audio magazines" to the bottom of Template:System_Artist_WWR_Data and it looks horrible. I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure out the CSS for formatting in that template. If you got nothing better to do, have at it and make it look nice like you did the rest of the page. Create yer own Template:System Audmag 1 if you want - mine sucks. Again, I trust you'll only do this if you have time and inclination - otherwise don't worry about it as we'll get to it sometime. Search song database
Easiest to use this format but you can go to the template and try to figure it out if you want. As always, I just throw in a few ways to search; will add more later (like artist etc.) - currently can search on: songtitle+keywords or songtitle or keywords. LATER:ADDED artist and album. Note that searching on the word Excel would find "excellent" as well and if you search on songtitle+keywords, the keywords might have "excellent" in them and since I'm not displaying keywords, you'd wonder why it got picked. Template has a limit of 100 ... making it larger can dog the system i.e. if you searched on "California" since the keywords have artist's state/city in them. (Will move state/city to another database field sometime in the future so state/city names wouldn't give a hit on songtitle+keywords searches). And if you're wondering why the 2nd Excel search doesn't repeat the same songs from the first search, it will only list a unique song once/page no matter how many song searches are on that page. Allows stuff like what is on the flying page or the motorcycles page. The cover page also is a good example although slow to load because so many 'covers' are found in the keywords. LATER: Hell, I'm putting song searches all over the place. And yeah, I know it needs some limits (no 1hr songs etc.) and stronger searching.
