Yeah, it scared me too ... I thought I killed Esther. BTW, if you click on the 'User Page' tab of this, then you can enter whatever you want for your 'user profile'. I think that when changes to this 'Discussion' portion of your page are made, you get a little block that says "New Message" so you know someone changed it. Yeah, I spent most of last night over on Wikipedia and kinda got fascinated. Lots of potential to let WWR listeners sit here and tinker to their heart's delight. If I have time to figure it out, perhaps I can pre-populate a huge section with a page for each artist we play. I'd integrate that with the main site so you could click on a link, come to page and write whatever you wanted to about the artist. Not that anyone would use it, but occasionally people have requested an area where they could really enter detailed information about their favorite musicians. Dunno. We'll see.

Did you get a little box saying something like "You have 1 message" when I edited this page?

New Messages

Yeah, I did. A colored bar with "You have new messages" was prominently displayed on the Recent Changes page.

I assume that, because this is mostly text, it doesn't take up too much space on the WWR Cray. This thing has the possibility to be fun AND informative. And a huge disaster, of course.  ;-) Time will tell.

I wish I could figure out how you do it! My webpages always come out looking crappy no matter how hard I try.

BTW, you should consider yourself very lucky to see this first in the history of WWR ever sort of madlib thing with emoticons. Someday when I have more time it'll be fun to make these things much smarter so people can have fun making up madlib sentences and seeing what comes up! Jimbob 17:24, 21 March 2006 (AKST)

Oh and BTW, if you edit this page to see how I did it, notice how fun it is to keep hitting "Show Preview" and see what different combinations the system picks for emoticons it can't find exact matches for. Unfortunately, if you see a funny combination and hit "Save Page", it will pick new ones when it saves it. So you never know what you're going to get when using random emoticons. Well, as long as I'm checking your page when I look at "Recent Changes" then I'll see it. If you want to be sure, respond on a person's discussion page since they'll get the "You have new messages" thing. Personally, I don't care. If it's important and / or you don't get a response after X time and really need one, hit them on their discussion page. Otherwise, it's anyone's guess if they'll see it or not. I happened to scan "Recent Changes" saw you did this and came over. Oh yeah, the "Summary" box is a good place to put something like "READ THIS JIMBOB" or something in hopes that I'll see that in Recent Changes too.

Have not incorporated the chat. Stuck with a major under-the-covers problem. Until I get that one licked, it'll be awhile. Although people are already "chatting" over here (like this) ... just not in a central place. I'll probably try to come up with a "quick chat" that makes it easier for a group chat on the new site (without having to edit every time you want to say something) but not yet sure how it will work. Gotta do work at Talkeetna Travel which is annoying hell out of me. Otherwise, I'd stay and play on this all day. See ya! goodbye
