Anything but "skins".

Not Working?

I did those two steps, but nothing looks different. I'm not complaining (I like the defaults), just curious if I'm doing something wrong. Should I see changes in my monobook.css? Kelli 06:21, 4 April 2006 (AKDT)

It didn't create the page for you. It looks like right now it only works if you've already created a monobook.css page. To do that Make a page, and it has to be this exact location, [[User:Username/monobook.css]] using your username in the place of "Username". Then come back to this page and do steps 1 and 2. --Sparkit 06:27, 4 April 2006 (AKDT)
Yep, that did it. Thanks. Kelli 06:32, 4 April 2006 (AKDT)

Notes on creating WWR Underwear

MediaWiki is capable of using several CSS files, and calls them Skins that can be changed in preferences. Additionally each user can have a modification of a skin. (MediaWiki calls them "User styles" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:User_style). They live in the User path at User:Username/monobook.css. (I don't remember if other skins can be so modified.)

WWR Underwear are User style modifications of Monobook skin. (Thus the need to choose Monobook as a skin in preferences).

Jim created a wiki namespace to share the Underwear with users and an interface for users to change their Underwear by selecting one from a menu and clicking a submit button.

To make Underwear

  1. Select Monobook skin in preferences
  2. Either manually create a User:Username/monobook.css (using your username rather than "Username") or select an underwear from the Underwear page. If you use the Underwear page the User:Username/monobook.css file is created for you. (Old Days and Forest are the ones I know the most about. Both change all the white stuff to some other color.)
  3. Refresh your browser cache
  4. Modify CSS tags to your pleasure. Use "Show preview" to see your changes. After you save the page, refresh the browser cache to see the changes on all pages.

(The main monobook.css file is at http://www.wholewheatradio.org//wiki/skins/monobook/main.css . I don't think anyone but Jimbob can modify this file, and if you can modify it, DON'T.)

To share your Underwear

  1. When you have created an Underwear page and you want to share with other WWR Users, make a page in the Underwear namespace. (Underwear:Underwear Name.css - Using the name you've chosen instead of "Underwear Name").
  2. Copy the contents of your monobook.css page to the newly created Underwear page
  3. The new Underwear will be listed in the drop down menu on the Underwear page and any user can put on your Underwear!
