System load
From WWR
System load refers to how much the WWR server is working.
Heavy system loads (3.00 and up) can cause the WWR web server and/or web software to crash. Heavy loads often happen when lots of folks are chatting such as during rants or house concerts.
Current system load
The current system load is 0.10. The system load is derived from the Unix uptime command and is the load average for the last minute. Here are some guidelines about what the system load means although it is often a 'black-magic' art to figure out how hard the CPU is really working.
Reducing system load
To reduce system load when the number climbs above 3.00 avoid pages that access the website databases (actually, all pages on the WWR site are database driven, but the music library and chat databases are particularly intense), or contain large or many images.
- Move to the Minimalist or Simple main chat room formats.
- Open one chat room at a time or have only one tab open to a WWR chat.
- Set your "Show X Lines" in chat to 15 or less.
- In chats click "Refresh" only occasionally. Set auto-refresh to more time than you usually do.
- Don't surf the site. Visit few WWR pages.
- Don't upload photos.
- Don't edit pages.
- Don't post large images in the chat.
- Don't make song or set requests
- Call in Phonegrams.
