Kristina Olsen House Concert: Sunday, September 10, 2006, 7 PM at the Wheat Hole.
She is known as a gutsy and highly expressive folksinger-songwriter, a superb guitarist who plays powerful bottleneck blues, and a rollicking and rude teller of tales, with 8 CDs recorded since she got her start in 1992. These days Kristina Olsen rarely plays in the United States, spending much of her touring time in Australia and Europe. But a short 3-concert Alaskan tour will land her in Talkeetna on Sunday, September 10th at 7PM for a Whole Wheat Radio House Concert and live webcast.

Concert Invitation
Hi there Friends and Neighbors!
I’d like to invite you all to a Whole Wheat Radio house concert with Kristina Olsen on Sunday, September 10th (see details below). I saw Kristina play a few months ago and she is a great entertainer, a sensitive musical artist and a rollicking storyteller. She plays bottleneck blues guitar with a soulfulness that gives me goose bumps. And she has a twinkle in her eye and a delightful lack of inhibition on ‘adult’ subjects that don’t get covered on the folk stage very often.
Jim and I have sworn this will be our last house concert until we have finished renovating the new “Wheat Palace” on Birch Creek Rd – a big log building on 10 acres that was once the Talkeetna Old Tyme Saloon. It’s been an intense summer of new roofs, foundations, demolition, countless dump-runs, uncovering interesting murals on the ceiling, plumbing (can you believe it?), wiring, and slowly sanding old logs. We look forward to sharing the place with ya'll – with any luck starting next spring.
In the meantime, I hope you can come join us for this last concert at our old East Talkeetna place on Sunday, September 10th with Kristina Olsen. My brother-in-law Brian is turning 30-something that night and I’m turning 40 a few days later so Kristina is the perfect birthday celebration to keep us smiling as we get a little older and hopefully a little wiser.

PS – Kid Meter: Yikes! I’m thinking that this concert would go over better with a mature audience. Parents of older kids – feel free to call me for more details if you’re not sure whether the subject matter is appropriate for their ears or not.
