Artists:Chelsea Berry

Chelsea Berry was born in 1983 in Anchorage, Alaska and grew up in Chugiak. She began playing guitar and writing at 14, and played the folk/bluegrass festival circuit in Alaska until she graduated from high school. She studied music in Montana for three years, transferred at 21 to Berklee College of Music in Boston, and studied songwriting there for three more. She currently lives in Nashville, TN where she is writing and gigging.

I'm a 25 year old singer/songwriter, fighting society's standards, I hate to quote Brad Pitt, but he IS gorgeous. “Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.”

Trying to convince the world that being a musician is worth couch surfing is tough, but believe you me, it's worth it. I grew up in the mountains of the Chugach Range, surrounded by family and friends who either thought my singing was extremely annoying or that it held some promise, or maybe both. If to be succesful means that you have supporters, then I've already made it, but starving artists really do starve, you know. The Couch Surfer's Diet. Market THAT.

I am currently living in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and working on some projects with Fly Amero of Orleans and David Brown (Billy Joel's guitar player!!).

I am playing occasionally in Boston and have a couple of radio interviews coming up, they will be linked through my Web site once they're online. I have been asked to tour (California?) next March with Karma and then later in the spring with Megan Burtt in Colorado and Montana.

And though the economy is falling apart, there are more important things than cars and clothes, boats, houses, furniture, toys. There is music. And there is friendship. And there is love.
