Bootsie Daniels started singing in 1957 at Age 11, He started out in singing groups under the street lights in Roanoke, VA. At that time, it was popular to sing under the street lights. By the time he was 14, he had moved on to bands. When he turned 16, he was the lead singer for Virginia’s premier soul band, The Rhythm Makers based out of Lexington, VA. When he was 20 years old, he headed for Cleveland, Ohio, to tour the music network.
He joined forces with bands such as The Years People, Bootsie and the Tangerray's, and make up bands along the way. He was still just 20 years old when the booking agent called and said ‘You’re going to share the stage with some of the biggest names in the business!’. By the summer of 1967, they had him sharing the stage with such greats as *Otis Redding, *Wilson Pickett, *Edwin Starr, *The Drifters, *The Coasters, *Little Richard, *The Tams, *The Showman, and *Rufus Thomas. Needless to say, he was ecstatic to be in such great company at such a young age. His travels took him to Maryland, where he hooked up with a band named the Bar-Fly’s and many other bands.
In the early 80's, Bootsie played drums and sang with a jazz group named Wallace Redd & the Redd Dots. They played all over and for all kinds of venues, but they mainly played wedding receptions and private affairs. The group consisted of Wallace Redd - leader, tenor and alto sax, & vocals, Loretta Redd White - Hammond B-3 organ w/ bass pedal board & a Leslie tone cabinet & vocals, brother Sammy Redd was the smooth guitarist, and Bootsie Daniels - drums & vocals. During those times, the band was the hottest jazz group around.
In 1990, being home sick, he returned to Virginia where he joined the band *Flashback* as lead singer. In 1998, he formed *Bootsie Daniels and Smack Dab*. *Bootsie Daniels & Smack Dab* was chosen the Black Music Award Band of the year 2003. The award is sanctioned by the White House and President George W. Bush.
Later in 2003, Bootsie formed the Bootsie Daniels Band.
Bootsie is also an artist who enjoys painting landscapes, still life and real life pictures for relaxation. He paints in all mediums (acrylic, oil, watercolor).
