Adopt-a-user
From WWR
At this time Adopt-a-user is a proposal.
However, if you are interested in mentoring a WWR user who wants to learn to edit wiki pages and tag artists, albums and songs please sign up below. If you are interested in being adopted and having someone to go to to learn wiki editing and WWR tagging, please sign up below.
Whether this proposal is implemented depends on whether there is interest for such a program.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, this program will be modeled on wikipedia's. However, it will not be as formal or academic. Afterall, WWR is about music, musicians and fun, right?!
Adopters need not be wiki or WWR gurus. The ability to find answers is just as important as knowledge. Mentors will inevitably expand their knowledge as they assist their adoptees.
Details will be fleshed out when enough interest is shown. Well, at least a few guidelines... maybe... Ah hell, we'll just make it up as we go. :)
In the meantime, please see the How-to FAQ page.
The following users are interested in adopting users who want to learn WWR wiki editing
- I will adopt one user and assist other adopters. My time is limited to evenings (Pacific Time) and weekends. sparx (talk) 18:51, May 9, 2008 (AKDT)
- Really kind of a cool idea sparky! This is something we've been doing for a while, (in a shotgun fashion), but this is more focused. I already have a request for some help on my talk page, so I guess I'm volunteering as long as I have the sparx resource!

- I'd be a lousy parent but I'd be glad to expedite giving answers/explanations to mentors if needed.
GoodGreat idea by the way.

The following users are interested in being adopted for the purpose of learning WWR wiki editing
I am totally interested in being adopted, I truthfully know nothing about this whole wholewheat wiki and I am a friendly sport.(:

I am interested in being mentored. I have almost no knowledge of Wiki-works, but I am computer savvy. And I'm easy to get along with, sute and cussly (JK last parts!). I would love to learn. User:kdecker 10:11, October 10, 2008 (PDST)
While I'm already an adoptee (really, I am), If someone would be willing to teach me how to tag songs correctly, I'd love to learn. Kimchifox
- Kimichifox, take a look at the tagging page and please let us know what needs clarification. Thanks. sparx (talk) 12:28, May 17, 2008 (AKDT)
Oh! Even with my limited time, I would love to be more helpful. It would be great to feel more free about asking question. Sharpston (talk) 07:24, May 10, 2008 (AKDT)
I'm interested.... Jenny (talk) 19:49, May 12, 2008 (AKDT)
Would anyone like to adopt me? I can't seem to find how to search for songs with multiple tags anymore, or sometimes music that hasn't been played a zillion times (I like to hear some of the new things, too, as well as old favorites), or find music another listener has rated high and has similiar tastes as mine but I haven't heard the piece yet and want to give it a try.....that sort of searching stuff. I'm sort of cantakerous and I've been told I'm a pain in the ass, but I have a few endearing qualities, too, if you'd like to adopt me. Bleau June 10, 2008
- Hi Bleau! What we used to do on that single show making page is now done by making separate show pages and writing a bit of code to bring up the songs you'd like to hear. I don't yet know all the ins and outs of it, and I don't think documentation is yet written. I suggest making a show page and then experimenting with the code. I think some folks are doing that already with a personal show page. sparx (talk/contribs) 08:18, July 6, 2008 (AKDT)
